I HAVE TRIED AGAIN TO CAPTURE THE BEAUTY OF THIS COIN WITH ADDITIONAL PICTURES. STILL NOT ABLE TO CAPTURE THE BEAUTY OF MY 1884-S. THIS GORGEOUS and UNIQUELY TONED 1884-S MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR IS CERTIFIED BY PCGS THE MOST RESPECTED THIRD PARTY GRADING COMPANY. IT RECEIVED A GRADE OF " GENUINE- QUESTIONABLE COLOR- UNCIRCULATED DETAILS". GRADE THE COIN NOT THE HOLDERTHE OBVERSE IS SKY BLUE WITH A GOLD EDGE. THE REVERSE IS A MIXTURE OF BLUE, GOLD, PINK to LAVENDER.

ALL LETTERS ARE NICELY STRUCK AS ARE THE OBVERSE STARS. ALL HAIR LINES APPEAR TO BE SHARP. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE VERY CENTER ON THE REVERSE. THE PHOTOS DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT SHOW THE TRUE BEAUTY.

I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL CAMERAS BUT NOTHING LOOKS AS NICE AS THE REAL COIN. THERE ARE 12 PHOTOS, EXPAND THEM AND EXAMINE CLOSELY TO SEE ALL THE DETAILS. WITH PCGS BEING A VERY CONSERVATIVE GRADER THEY TOOK THE BEST WAY OUT. I PERSONALLY SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER REP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO WAY TO DETERMINE IF THIS VERY UNIQUELY TONED COIN WAS NATURAL BECAUSE OF THE COMPLEX PATTERNS. I KNOW THE HISTORY OF THIS COIN.
THIS 1884-S AND ABOUT 20 MORE MORGANS WERE OWNED BY MY GRANDMOTHER WHO PASSED AWAY 41 YEARS AGO AT THE AGE OF 92. I FOUND A PACKAGE THAT WAS IN STORAGE FOR OVER 50 YEARS. THIS PACKAGE WAS WITH A BUNCH OF OTHER ANTIQUE FAMILY HEIRLOOMS THAT GOT MISPLACED IN HER OLD MOBILE HOME.

ALL OF THE COINS WERE WRAPPED IN AN OLD PIECE OF MULTI-COLORED OILCLOTH. SHE LIVED IN PALMDALE CALIFORNIA WHERE IT GETS VERY HOT DURING THE SUMMER. THE BOX THAT CONTAINED THE MORGANS AND PEACE DOLLARS AND OTHER ITEMS WAS VERY DELAPIDATED AND DAMP WITH GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT. WHEN I TOOK EVERYTHING OUT IT WAS A BIG MESS. EACH MORGAN WAS IN TOUCH WITH THE OILCLOTH ON BOTH SIDES.

THEY WERE LAYERED THEN ROLLED CREATING A KIND OF A SANDWICH. I DRIED THE LACE AND.

WHEN THE OILCLOTH PACKAGE WAS TAKEN APART, MORE LIKE IT FELL APART, I LET THE COINS DRY IN THE SUNLIGHT HERE IN BIG BEAR LAKE CA. I THEN PUT THEM IN 2X2 FLIPS AND STORED THEM IN MY SAFE. AFTER A FEW YEARS I DECIDED TO SEND SOME OF THEM TO PCGS FOR GRADING.

I KNEW THAT THIS 1884-S WAS A VERY PRETTY AND A VERY UNIQUE MORGAN. I SURMISED THAT THE GRADE WAS AN MS62, BUT ONLY POSSIBLE. COMPARING THIS 84-S TO AN NGC AU58 THAT I HAVE, THE TONED COIN IS SUPERIOR IN CONDITION AND EYE APPEAL. THE OBVERSE CHEEKS ARE VERY CLEAN, ALL FIELDS ARE VIRTUALLY FREE OF BAG MARKS.

PCGS AGREES WITH ME, SOMEWHAT, AS THEY DID ASSIGN "UNCIRCULATED DETAILS" TO IT. THIS COIN IS OVERALL REALLY NICE. FOR PCGS TO GIVE THIS COIN AN UNCIRCULATED DETAILS IS A RARITY IN ITSELF. THIS UNC GRADE COULD COVER ANY MS CONDITION FROM 60 TO 63. THE BURDEN Now FALLS ON THE MARKET PLACE TO ESTABLISH THE AGREEABLE GRADE AND DOLLAR VALUE.

I ASK, WHEN IS THE LAST TIME THE MARKET SEEN PCGS GIVE THIS KIND OF A GRADE TO ONE OF THE HARDEST YEARS TO FIND IN MS/UNC? IF YOU WANT THE MOST UNUSUAL 1884-S THAT YOU HAVE EVER SEEN. THIS IS THE COIN FOR YOU. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IF THERE IS ANOTHER 1884-S LIKE IT. IS IT OR ISN'T IT??

YESTERDAY, FRIDAY MAY 12 I TOOK THIS COIN TO THE PCGS PUBLIC DAY IN SANTA ANA. I SHOWED MY COIN TO SEVERAL OTHER DEALERS THAT WERE SUBMITTING COINS. EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM AGREED THAT THE COIN WAS MS / UNC BUT THERE WAS A CONSENSUS THAT THE MS GRADE WAS 61 TO 62+. ONE GAVE IT A 63.
